The Bears of the University of Northern Colorado join You Can Play in working for inclusion in sports by supporting all, including LGBT athletes, coaches and fans. Priding themselves on an “honest, dedicated pursuit of success,” the Bears acknowledge, It’s hard to do those things when a player has to keep a secret, and that’s why we accept each other for who we are: gay, straight, black, or white.” At UNC, competing in sports only has one requirement: an ability to succeed within a team.
The Bears are members of the Big Sky Conference, and compete in 19 varsity sports. “Wisdom is Eternal” is the school’s motto and UNC is one of the West’s first universities, founded in 1889.
