Eastern Washington University has made a video for the You Can Play Project to “let our community know that we’re only richer, stronger, and more vibrant by having a community where everyone’s sexual identity is embraced.” Located in Cheney, Washington, the Eagles have a student body of nearly 14,000. Their motto is “Start Something Big” and this video epitomizes that creed.
EWU is striving to make sports a comfortable enviroment both on and off the court, and are encouraging their fans to “join us in speaking up and out against homophobia and deragatory language.” They proudly offer 12 varsity sports and are a member of the Big Sky Conference. The Eagles also have campuses in Bellevue, Everett, Kent, Seattle, Shoreline, Tacoma, Vancouver, and Yakima, Washington.
