Lacrosse becomes the latest professional sport to join the You Can Play team with a huge assist from the Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League.
The Mammoth becomes the first pro team in Colorado and the first lacrosse team to speak on behalf of You Can Play. Dan Coates (St. Catharine’s, ON), John Grant, Jr. (Peterborough, ON), Adam Jones (Owen Sound, ON) and Jordan McBride (New Westminster, BC) represent the team.
Jones is the National Lacrosse League’s reigning Rookie of the Year.
Grant is the reigning National Lacrosse League MVP and one of the most decorated players in lacrosse. He holds numerous NCAA records for his play at the University of Delaware and is a seven-time member of Team Canada. Grant has won championships during his play on both Major League Lacrosse and National Lacrosse League teams. During play last season for the Mammoth, Grant hit his 1000-points and 500-goals career milestones, and set an NLL record for most points in a season (116) on his way to being named league MVP.
“My job as general manager of the Mammoth is to field the best team I can in our quest to win our second Champion’s Cup,” said Steve Govett, who also serves as team president. “I applaud the vision and mission of You Can Play, and feel fortunate to work with Patrick and Brian,” said Govett of You Can Play co-founders Patrick Burke and Brian Kitts.
