Brooks Orpik, the alternate captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins joins the You Can Play Team and stands up for equality in sports.

At this point in his hockey career, Brooks already has won a Stanley Cup (Pittsburgh, 2009), NCAA National Championship (Boston College, 2001), and Olympic silver medal (USA, 2010). The Penguins’ 2010 Defensive Player of theYear, Orpik was drafted 18th overall in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

Brooks grew up in Amherst, NY and played for the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Brooks was among the first NHL players to volunteer on behalf of You Can Play and his video was shot in Denver while in town to play the Colorado Avalanche.
