You Can Play - Brent Burns, Logan Couture, TJ Galiardi, Douglas Murray

Representing the San Jose Sharks, the Calgary Flames and Montreal Canadiens – and citizens of the Canada, Sweden and the United States – four big NHL players put an international spin on support for You Can Play and LGBT athletes everywhere. They each share a link, past or present to the San Jose Sharks – and thanks to the Sharks for providing the video help. The Sharks’ Brent Burns is a Barrie, Ontario native and 2011 NHL All-Star. Burns was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the first round of the 2003 NHL draft.

Also a first-round pick, the Sharks took Logan Couture 9th overall in 2007. He’s the Sharks franchise leader in rookie-season goals scored (32) and the first Sharks player to score 30 goals in his first two seasons. Logan is the all-time NHL leader in rookie-season game-winning goals on the road (7). A native of Guelph, Ontario, Couture is a 2012 NHL All-Star.

T.J. Galiardi is the 2008 WHL Rookie of the Year and former Dartmouth University player, and he played his 200th NHL game earlier this year. Drafted by the Colorado Avalanche, the current Calgary Flames standout represented the US in the 2010 World Championships. A native of Calgary, AB, Galiardi holds dual US-Canadian citizenship.

Bromma, Sweden is the birthplace of Montreal Canadiens defenseman Douglas Murray. The former Cornell University star and Hobey Baker Award nominee, Murray was drafted by the Sharks in 1999. He represented Sweden on the 2010 Men’s Olympic team.

You Can Play welcomes Brent, Logan, TJ and Douglas and thanks them for their support.
